Do you know the University of Victoria?
Is a good University in Canada? is it well recognized in Canada? what about MBA's there? i would like to study in Canada but in a province not too cold and Victoria seems a paradise but i would like too the prestige.Do you know the University of Victoria?
No.
No.
Student Life at University of Victoria?
I'm a senior in high school and am trying to make my big college decision. I was wondering about University of Victoria in Canada and it's student life. I've heard there's no frats or sororities, but do students still party? whats the social scene like at Uvic?
I've also been wondering about the different social groups that exist there, is it mostly bros and hoes like a big american college?Student Life at University of Victoria?
If you are not a Canadian, then you need to apply as a foreign student and be accepted. Fees are also six times that which a Canadian would pay. You also need a student visa and you are not able to work in Canada while attending school.
Most Canadian universities do not have large frats or sororities. Victoria isn't a big party town. It's main industries are tourism, government, and retired folks. I suppose UVic echos that. Great place for an education with some great facilities, campus, and programs, but you typically won't find lots of massive keggers. While students do have parties, the drinking age is 19 in BC, some pubs and bars are known as 'student bars', and downtown does have several clubs. That said, a lot of activities offered tend to involve less partying -- beaches, lakes, hiking, sports, clubs, kayaking, etc.
UBC (University of British Columbia) and SFU (Simon Fraser University) in Vancouver are known as better party universities.Student Life at University of Victoria?
There is a lot of partying there, especially in the cluster housing units. Tuition is three times as high for international students. I paid about 1,500 per class. International students can work on campus. they can work off campus under exceptional circumstances.
On residence there is a lot of partying on the weekends. There are no frats, but people still party hard. I have a friend that goes to SFU, and he said that people don't party that much.

University of Toronto or Victoria for Masters of Public Administration?
U of T has the prestigious reputation and perhaps better access to experts in a wide variety of subject areas, but Victoria has a guaranteed 12 month internship and I already know I'll have full funding if I go there (full funding = all tuition paid, and first semester of housing paid).
Victoria is also much nicer in the winter compared to Toronto. I'm assuming Victoria probably isn't as busy or pretentious either.
Both are expensive to live in, but tuition is more at U of T.University of Toronto or Victoria for Masters of Public Administration?
While you have to make the decision, because it is your life, I would choose U of T. The value of the degree fromm there is about double that from Victoria. Remember, Public Administration is all about image. Start out with the best image you can get, and build from there.

How far is London Victoria Bus Station from University College Hospital?
I need to go there in March and am travelling from Cumbria. Train fares are ridiculous and i'm trying to find out if It would be cheaper to get a coach, but I need to find out how far away it is in case I need to start paying for taxi's n things. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou very much. How far is London Victoria Bus Station from University College Hospital?
If you book now for specific trains you will find some very low fares indeed www.virgintrains.co.uk
or visit the ticket office at your nearest staffed station. University College Hospital is within walking distance of Euston Station where the trains from Cumbria terminate, Save a further 34% with an annual railcard www.railcard.co.uk
If you do come by coach walk from the Coach Station at Victoria down Buckingham Palace Road to Victoria Station and take the Undrground Victoria Line to Warren Street. All ow 30 minutes in total.
If the coach stops at Golders Green in north London as most of them do, get off there and catch the Underground Northern Line (Charing Cross Branch) to Warren Street. Unless you buy a One Day Travelcard you will pay 拢4 for each tube journeyHow far is London Victoria Bus Station from University College Hospital?

The TFL transport for london is a good site. I would take the tube from Victoria. Taxi might cost you more than the coach trip. Vague memory that UCH is on Goodge St somewhere like that you'd get about four or five stations within five minutes walk of it. Just take the one easiest to get to from Victoria which is at least district line. Sorry I am being so vague I am currently based in Kottayam, Kerala. So may you be happy. May you be happy. May you be happy. Don't really know UCH that well apart from an emergency dental filling once. Hey you plan way ahead just like me. May you be happy. It's a long way I guess from Cumbria, but I have to head off to Nepal in March. I figure how difficult can it be. Namaste. Oh I won't be jealous if someone else gives a better more supportive answer. May you be happy.
UCH is next to Warren Street station ... here's the tube map http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/s鈥?/a> ... from Victoria Coach Station you'd need to walk along the street (10 minute or so walk, follow everyone else but it is well signposted) to Victoria rail station which is where the tube station is ... take the Victoria line northbound to Warren Street ... cost 拢4.50 cash fare but you might be better off with a one day travelcard, 拢5.60 off peak, 拢7.20 peak (before 9.30am) ... the tube journey takes about half an hour so the whole journey should take well under an hourthe syndicates sample sales

Is the university of Victoria hard to get into?
I'm just wondering because I'm a sophomore and want to see how hard it is to get in to U of Vic, I heard different views about it.Is the university of Victoria hard to get into?
No, compared to some other universities in B.C., UVic is less competitive and easier to get into. However, their admission requirements vary depending on which faculty you apply for. An 85% average is a safe target, but you might be able to be accepted into some programs with a mid-70s average.

BTW, i heard that RMIT is going to (or has already) "stolen" i guess you could say, some of the best teachers from other universities, is this true?

When are year 12 students in victoria supposed to apply for university?
I'm currently in year 12 and on some university websites it says that "timely applications close on 30th september 2010? How are you supposed to apply for a university if you don't even have your ENTER score yet? When are year 12 students in victoria supposed to apply for university?
Basically you look at any possible courses you want to do and apply for them without knowing what you ENTER is. It is difficult but that is the way it is done. You will have an idea as the year progresses if your doing well or not and in the week after you get your ENTER, you have an opportunity to change your preferences (courses you apply for). This was the dilemma i had, i thought i had done really well but once i received my ENTER score i hadn't done as well as i had hoped and i found other ways to get into my course. I suggest that you focus on the task at the time, try not to put all your focus into the course you want to apply for until you have to. Good Luck with year 12 :D... In Victoria, which university is best for journalism from JUST these 2: Swinburne or Deakin?
I am applying for uni through VTAC, and though these are lower down my preferences list, I am unsure which to place firstIn Victoria, which university is best for journalism from JUST these 2: Swinburne or Deakin?
G'day,
Both of them are pretty similar in regards to recognition and quality. Both of them are medium-sized universities as well, so the care %26amp; attention towards students are also pretty good (lower student-teacher ratio).
When the Good University Guides has "University of The Year" award, Deakin University was the only university in Victoria to win the award twice, in 1996 %26amp; 1999.
You might also want to consider which one's closer to your residence.
Hope this helps. Good luck for your exam.

There are no schools where you can make a living with an undergrad degree in archaeology. Only where you get your PhD matters. And there are like 25 PhDs in archaeology for every position that opens up.

How about Victoria University(in Australia)?
My university has a communication with Victoria University. So, I have a chance to study in there for two years . However, It is said that Victoria University is not very good and their one class students may come from the same country. Which one should I choose ,go to Australia or stay in my university? How about Victoria University(in Australia)?
Victoria University is definitely a very low ranking university in Australia. If however, you are only studying 2 years at VU, and return home to complete your degree, then it doesn't really matter what ranking VU is, does it?
Hope this helps.

just curious and i can't find an acceptance rate online...anyone know how competitive it would be to get in? my major would probably be computer science. How difficult is it to get into the University of Victoria for an American student?
No more difficult than for anyone from any country.
Once you have been accepted, you sign in as an international student, pay the intenational fees, about double what the locals pay and you are limited where and how many hours you can work.

What's it like at the University of Victoria?
Hello :)
I'm going into Grade 12 next September, but I have been looking at going to the University of Victoria for about a year now. I have been to their website and seen their booklets, but I was wondering if any UVic students could tell me if this is a good school? I'm especially interested in either Stage Management or History, but what the school is like in general would be a great help. Thanks :)What's it like at the University of Victoria?
Beautiful campus, great bus system in the city, crappy gym though.

I live in the USA and was recently offered a place to do my PhD in both universities. I am not sure which one to choose. Any help?Massey University vs Victoria University of Wellington?

Being a Canterbury girl, my impression of Massey University is that its famous for producing vets (and I was told the other day its becoming a leader in sports science) and Victoria was for Law. Is Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand hard to get into?
Just wondering because I'm not exactly the "star student" but I'm infatuated with this school. Also if you have an opinion on the school (for someone from the U.S) I would love to hear it.

A highly regarded university and in a city famous for its arts, culture, cafe life and politics. Yes I am sure you will like it - give it a go.

It all depends what course you want to get into.
Courses like accountancy have restrictions.
Often a general arts degree is easier to get into.

Master of Professional Accountancy - Victoria University of Wellington?
I am a management student. I am completing the Master of Management studies degree (Finance major) from a college affiliated to Mumbai University. These days the job scenario in India for Finance students is not so good, especially those who graduate from "Not So Famous Colleges". The salary levels are also dismal. So, Many of my friends suggested me the study abroad option. Since I am a masters student in India (17 years education complete) I am eligible to pursue a masters degree abroad.
Recently I came across the "Master of Professional Accountancy from Victoria University of Wellington". I read on their website that this course enables students to get a Chartered Accountant designation in New Zealand giving them many opportunities to work further in New Zealand and Australia. I found this to be lucrative but am confused.
Is this degree really promising for outside students like me? How is the job scenario for Accountants, because I heard that the finance industry in New Zealand had taken a hit after recession, since it is a small country?
Kindly help me to take a decision. Is it good for a Indian postgraduate like me to go abroad to study now, considering the Indian economy?Master of Professional Accountancy - Victoria University of Wellington?
this is good opportunity. seize it if u can. dont worry about job market. there will be plenty after graduation. its bad and its cyclical so it will be good again. dont worry too much on future. there's a shortage of a/ctants in the world. a chance to get out of india, if u're contemplating
if u're paranoid then choose another course

It depends which campus you're going to.. one is literally right across the road from the train station and probably any Wellingtonian will easily be able to direct you to it. That one is Pipitea. If you're going to Kelburn campus, it's a little more of a walk away but you can easily get there by going along Lambton Quay and catching the Cable car, which has a sign indicating which stop is the university stop. This costs about three dollars for an adult or one dollar for a student and saves you about fifteen minutes of uphill walking. The other campus, Te Aro, can be reached by going down the end of cuba street. Hope that helps, not sure how familiar you are with Wellington! How do I get from Wellington Railway Station to VIctoria University on foot?
Pick up a map at the railway station at an i site or similar. It is not far to walk. Be aware there are scattered campus around the city - some even right adjacent to the railway station.
Good luck. How do I get from Wellington Railway Station to VIctoria University on foot?
put foot one in front then put foot two in front then put foot three in front and if you've run out of foots by now repeat as above.

Most colleges do not allow animals in dorm rooms. But if they have apartments available to rent you may be able to have them.
But the best thing to do is call and ask first.
Most of us do not even know where this college is.

How long does it take to get to Wellington Airport from Victoria University?
Is the bus the best way to travel to and from these places, and how much does it cost?
Some answers would be greatly appreciated! How long does it take to get to Wellington Airport from Victoria University?
You can bus on the airport flyer from the airport to Lambton Quay and then you'd have to catch another bus or the cable car and then walk. The bus costs you $8 and then a bus up to Uni from Lambton Quay will cost you $1.50 and cable car is $2.50 for an adult.
It depends what time you travel. But about 25 minutes.
If you can afford it, I'd suggest taking a shuttle. I've got one to town for $8, but usually they're about 15 minutes and they take you exactly to where you want to go.

...
From Vic you would need to walk or catch a bus to Lambton Quay or Wellington Station which is at the end of Lambton Quay which is only about $1 or a 10 minute downhill walk (I always walk). From there you catch the 'airport flyer'. Not sure about price but here is the timetable http://www.metlink.org.nz/timetables/bus…How long does it take to get to Wellington Airport from Victoria University?
You could walk to Lambton Quay from Vic Uni(taking the James Cook Hotel shortcut of course) and take the flyer to the airport, I think it would cost about $7 without a snapper card and $5:60 with one, seeing as you travel through 3 zones.
Whenever I needed to go to the airport, I usually called for an airport shuttle just because I knew that they were reliable and because they picked me up right from where I lived. It is a bit more expensive but if you want to make sure you catch your flight on time, it is the way to go.How long does it take to get to Wellington Airport from Victoria University?
21 minutes. By car would be the fastest.
15 mins by car if traffic good.

Where is a good place to live near victoria welllington university?
where is a good place to live near victoria wellington university?
i plan to go to teachers college there, in the future im canadian and i will be living in NZ for a year in wellington, but i need a good relatively safe... place to live not to cheap and not to far from victoria wellington uniWhere is a good place to live near victoria welllington university?
Answer above, the teacher's college is actually in Karori.
So it'd be best to live in Karori, but it's quite an expensive suburb. Northland, Highbury and Kelburn are the surround suburbs. There's a bus that goes very close to the campus. The Karori buses start in Lyall Bay and Miramar and go through Newtown and into the city. So really you could live anywhere around there.
There's also a hall of residence/dorm in Karori called Helen Lowery. It's cheaper than most Vic halls because it's not in the city.
I've done a few papers at the Karori campus, don't expect anything flash. Also, Victoria doesn't have the best reputation for teacher's college. Also, there's a high level of knowledge required to enter our teacher's colleges. We assume that you know the difference between to and too!

Im actually from the US and Im planning to go to the University of Victoria but I heared that the University of Victoria has 2,000 rabbits running around it's campus and want to get rid of some. Do you think they'll let me keep one?Would the University of Victoria let me take one of their rabbits?
I'm sure they won't mind if you take as many as you can catch. They are all over the place. They are domestic rabbits, not like the brown wild rabbits.xenon kasich

International Student living costs for 6 months at Singapore Management University, Victoria Street ?
I am an international visiting student at Singapore Management University, Victoria Street. I am offered a pay of about 2200 SGD/month. I am eligible to avail the hostel facility priced at about 500 SGD/month. Is this sufficient for living?International Student living costs for 6 months at Singapore Management University, Victoria Street ?
First, is this SGD2200/month some sort of stipend connected with your studies and allowed under your student visa? Or is this some job? If it is a job, that probably violates your terms %26amp; conditions of your student visa. For employment, the employer must obtain an employment visa for you.
As for living costs, Singapore is now has one of world's highest costs of living, even higher than Hong Kong. You can hardly afford a hostel at that rate. Also, make sure they have a monthly rate and that you can stay for 6 months. Unless this SGD2200 is a stipend from the school, you are subject to both CPF contributions (still 15%, if I recall correctly) and income taxes. Your take-home pay will barely cover hostel and meals, not school %26amp; other personal + living expenses.
Be careful you never do anything whatsoever to violate any visa regulations or other rules, regulations %26amp; laws in Singapore. Enforcement of their laws is stringent, and they are happy to remove any violators instantly - at your expense.

What would be a nice little town to live in commuting distance to Victoria University, Wellington?
I may be moving to Wellington soon, and would be working at Victoria University. I like small seaside towns, or anything near a body of water.
Can you think of any nice little sleepy town with scenery within, say 50kms of Wellington?
Having a school and possibly even a hospital would also be a plus. What would be a nice little town to live in commuting distance to Victoria University, Wellington?
First place I thought of was the suburbs/areas of Porirua such as Pukerua Bay and Plimmerton.
Takes about 25 mins on the train from there. If you are working at the pipitea campus this will be really convenient for you. Even if you are at the main Kelburn campus it is still a really quick bus ride (or cable car ride) up.
One problem is that 50km from Wellington is a long commute if you are driving and stuck on SH1. If getting the train then it would be absolutely fine. Also, public transport runs quite late (2am Friday night/Saturday morning).
The hospitals all fall under Capital and Coast Health so you have Keneperu (in Porirua), Hutt Hospital in Lower Hutt and obviously the revamped one in Wellington.
Schools 鈥?lovely little primary schools in Pukerua Bay, Papakowhai and Plimmerton. Secondary Schooling is a bit more problematic as they would either have to head up the coast to Kapiti or Paraparumu Colleges, head into Porirua (probably Aotea College, unless they went private at the new school which is part of Samuel Marsden Collegiate based in Whitby), or head to Tawa College (good school and has a lot of plimmerton/pukerua bay people) or into Wellington for the many schools there.
If you are not wanting to get public transport I personally wouldn鈥檛 go any further north than Pukerua Bay as, like I said, getting stuck along the coast road can be the pits :)
Actually, there is also Paekakariki which is lovely. As long as there are no landslips. And if that happens you are stuck in Paekakariki until it clears :)
Within Wellington there are also places you may like. Island Bay and Miramar both sprung to mind as quite villagey 鈥?the one advantage or disadvantage is that they are in Wellington (ok slightly outer suburban wellington, but wellington still) so the price of property rented or purchased is higher. What would be a nice little town to live in commuting distance to Victoria University, Wellington?

Yes! Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast it what you may be looking for. It's about 40-50km from Wellington city. OH, East bourne is another option for you. Some parts of Porirua are alright too, but there are lots of Maoris, not that there's anything wrong with that
Petone 10km out, Pilmmerton 20km , Paremata 20km are all seaside
the south coast is ok but the wind is an issue - Lyall Bay 5km out
if you have some cash Eastbourne, Days Bay, both 20km out
